Ace Hotel DTLA & L.A. Chapter

I love having brunch on Sundays especially when I'm heading to places I've never been to. That was the case when my friend Kim and I checked out L.A. Chapter at the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. It was a fun day that began with delicious meals and cocktails and it ended at The Last Bookstore, a quirky spot that used to be an abandoned bank. My next brunch outing is still a big question mark, but it's happening soon because my "must eat here" list is super long.

The L.A. Chapter is just off the Ace Hotel's lobby and the casual brasserie has a daily menu with tasty options. I had the Chapter Breakfast (scrambled eggs with a side of thick cut bacon and sautéed mushrooms) and my drink of choice was the Carnation cocktail, a sparkling rosé with blood orange juice. Kim had the Moroccan Scramble, an exotic mix of merguez sausage, avocado, cilantro, chickpea and chilies over flatbread. Everything was delicious.

After eating, we walked around the hotel, which was originally the United Artists building. It was built in 1927 and is now a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. The Ace opened in 2014 after the building and its historic United Artists theater went through a complete restoration and renovation. The interior of the Spanish Gothic-style building is dazzling and the rooftop bar is a respite from the busy streets below. And while it was an overcast day, the view of downtown Los Angeles was still pretty spectacular. I have plans to celebrate my birthday there this year!

Dream home

Check out this darling once for sale, but now taken studio located in Skanstorget, Göteborg, Sweden. This space is about tranqquilityyyy and I wish I had it all to myself. Since it's not, let's admire from afar, shall we?

The listing for Skanstorget 3B came from Ähre Agency. The apartment is in a stone house built in 1902 and has all the original woodwork and classic details. But it was the kitchen that made me swoon over this natural light-filled home! The dark floral wallpaper from Sandberg made me stop and go "yes, so pretty." And when I saw the white Smeg fridge, I just about died with envy. IDK Smegs do that to me.

Now, let's zero in on that fireplace with the gorgeous detail at the top. It's on my future home's wish list and it doesn't matter where I end up because I will have one in my living room/dining room. Not kidding. I also can't get enough of the pretty plants, the balcony and the spiral staircase outside the front door. Yep, all this makes me happy. There's more to see of Skanstorget 3B so head on over to Ähre. Summer is almost here and I'm woefully unprepared. Luckily, I found & Other Stories and these pretty pieces caught my eye. I'm really digging the porcelain print jumpsuit. It's so freaking perfect.

Shop love

My Sunday afternoon: Lunch with a dear friend at Milo & Olive in Santa Monica and a bit of wandering around the General Store in Venice Beach. The General Store is a darling shop that has an amazing mix of clothing, plants (want all of them), books, jewelry and other treasures that will make the best prezzies. Definitely heading back there.

Echo Park Craft Fair

Oh nooo, it's Monday again. I'm not at all ready - mentally - for a new work week. I'm still thinking about Saturday and wishing I was back having brunch with the girls and then wandering around the Echo Park Craft Fair, a bi-annual arts and design event held at Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake. I went last year and loved it. When I heard it was happening again a few weeks ago, I knew I couldn't miss it.

I went to my favorite favorite booths first: Kathleen Whitaker (I got this and its mate) and then popped over to Block Shop for this scarf (I've been wanting this for months). But during my walk around the space, I also discovered Tavin Boutique, Objects Without Meaning and Loup Charmant. So much good stuff at the EPCF. Can't wait for the next one.

The first thing I asked myself when I started looking through Tiny Atlas Quarterly was, where's my passport? Then came the follow-up: Do I have enough vacation time to fully appreciate what the Amalfi Coast has to offer? Sadly, the answer is no. For now, I'll have to depend on the travel and lifestyle journal to transport me to the sun-kissed region whenever I'm in need of a mental escape. [Confession: I've already logged many hours on the site. I can't stop staring at the spectacular photos of cliffside villages, emerald green waters and white sandy beaches.] Contributing writer Meraviglia Paper calls the south of the Italian Peninsula heaven and I totally agree.
